Digital Theme for Hyvä Stores

Current version: 2.0.0

Overview

Digital is a modern, minimalist Hyvä child theme for Magento 2, built for general merchandise and digital-first storefronts. It pairs a clean, conversion-focused layout with Hyvä's frontend performance, and ships with a wide set of merchandising and marketing features out of the box.

  • Modern, minimalist storefront design
  • Hot Rated Products showcase (4.5+ star ratings)
  • Lightning-fast instant search with real-time results
  • Quick view and quick buy
  • Infinite scroll browsing
  • Sticky cart, checkout notes, and free shipping bar
  • Back-in-stock alerts, countdown timers, and promo popups
  • Product badges, recommendations, and blog integration
  • High-resolution image galleries with zoom, color swatches, and product videos
  • Three header versions with responsive, sticky layout
  • Built on Hyvä + Tailwind CSS

Free installation is included with your purchase — contact us (see Support below) if you'd like us to install it for you.

Requirements

  • Hyvä Theme, installed and activated
  • PHP 8.1 or newer (PHP 8.4 compatible from v2.0.0)
  • MySQL 8.0+
  • Node.js 18+ (frontend build tooling)
  • Composer 2.x
  • A valid Hyvä license for your production domain — one license per domain

Theme updates are valid for 1 year from purchase; renew your license annually to keep receiving updates.

Heads up: on some hosts the default php and composer commands point to an older PHP version than the one Magento actually needs. If a command fails with a PHP version error, run php -v to see what's active, then call the specific binary instead — e.g. /usr/bin/php84 /usr/bin/composer require ....

First steps: installing Hyvä (free)

Hyvä is free but requires registration to access its private Composer repository.

1. Create your free Hyvä license

Register your store domain at hyva.io/licenses/manage/shops — you will receive a private Packagist repository URL and an access token.

2. Configure Composer for Hyvä Private Packagist

Replace <your-hyva-license-key> with your own Hyvä license key (from your Hyvä account, not from ShopWhizzy):

composer config --auth http-basic.hyva-themes.repo.packagist.com token <your-hyva-license-key>
composer config repositories.private-packagist composer https://hyva-themes.repo.packagist.com/<your-hyva-license-key>/

3. Install the core Hyvä theme (minimal setup)

composer require hyva-themes/magento2-default-theme \
 hyva-themes/magento2-cms-tailwind-jit \
 hyva-themes/magento2-compat-module-fallback \
 hyva-themes/magento2-luma-checkout \
 hyva-themes/magento2-payment-icons

Installing the Digital theme

Digital is installed via Composer, from your own private ShopWhizzy repository. Find your repository URL and license code on My Modules in your account.

4. Get your ShopWhizzy Composer access

Copy the two commands under "Composer Install > 2. ShopWhizzy access" on your My Modules page and run them in your Magento project root:

composer config repositories.shopwhizzy composer https://shopwhizzy.com/composer/<your-license-token>/
composer require shopwhizzy/digital-theme

Your Composer access follows your license, so it stops working automatically if the license lapses.

5. Run the Magento setup commands

php bin/magento setup:upgrade
php bin/magento setup:di:compile
php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f
php bin/magento cache:flush

Upgrading from v1.x? As of v2.0.0 the theme's modules were renamed from the MgtWizards_* namespace to ShopWhizzy_* (e.g. the theme module itself moved from MgtWizards_DigitalTheme to ShopWhizzy_Theme). A migration script ships with the theme to handle this for you — run it in preview mode first, then with --apply to apply:

php vendor/shopwhizzy/digital-theme/src/theme/migrate/migrate-to-shopwhizzy.php # preview
php vendor/shopwhizzy/digital-theme/src/theme/migrate/migrate-to-shopwhizzy.php --apply

The script locates your Magento root automatically, so it works whether you run it from the project root or elsewhere. See the migrate directory's README for details on exactly what it changes.

Activating the theme

In the Magento Admin, go to Content > Design > Configuration and assign:

  • ShopWhizzy/child_digital — the storefront theme

Recommended: pair Digital with Amasty One Step Checkout for a streamlined one-page checkout, or use Magento's core checkout — both are supported.

Demo data

From v2.0.0, Digital ships with a one-click demo data importer offering two demo layouts (Demo 01 and Demo 02), including sample CMS content. Use it to see the theme fully populated before building out your own catalog and pages.

Configuration

Digital's features are split across several bundled modules, each with its own admin configuration section under Stores > Configuration — no code edits needed for day-to-day changes.

ShopWhizzy_Theme
Core theme settings: header version, layout, and general appearance.
ShopWhizzy_SlideBannerHyva
Homepage slide banners.
ShopWhizzy_CountdownTimer
Countdown timers for promotions.
ShopWhizzy_Popups
Promo popups.
ShopWhizzy_Labels
Product badges/labels.
ShopWhizzy_Faqs
FAQ blocks.
ShopWhizzy_SocialLogin
Google sign-in for customer accounts (new in v2.0.0).

Additional supporting modules (sub-categories, free shipping bar, bestsellers, promotions, and file cleanup) install alongside the theme and generally need no separate configuration.

Updating the theme

composer update shopwhizzy/digital-theme

Then repeat the Magento setup commands step above. Digital is a self-contained child theme, so updates don't overwrite your store's own customizations outside the theme's own files.
